I’m not Brazilian, but I’m guessing importing stuff is expensive. Look at PC components elsewhere in the world, it’s typically much more expensive than the US.

Second hand markets exist and Raspberry Pis are rarely sold second hand.

This also shouldn’t be your default option. Your default should be whatever you have laying around, and a lot of people have a Raspberry Pi sitting idle, hence why people use them.

What specs

That depends on what you want to do with it.

For example, if you want to host a video server, then you’ll want something that can handle transcoding. Check the Jellyfin docs for details, which recommends an N100 or better.

List all the things you need and want, and then look up what the requirements are. Basic file hosting is pretty light, so you really don’t need much (hence the Raspberry Pi rec).

I personally use an old PC with the following specs:

• Ryzen 1700
• 16GB RAM
• GTX 750 Ti GPU
• 2 8TB HDDs (bought for the server)
• 1 SSD for boot (128 GB, just needs to store the OS)

This is way overkill for what I need, but I had it laying around. You could even start with a laptop, you’ll just have limited storage (can get a USB emclosure of you want).

If you don’t have something, maybe a mini PC would work (minisforum, beelink, etc). Or maybe it doesn’t. I don’t know what you’re planning to run on it. You probably don’t need anything fancy, your biggest requirement might be the GPU/iGPU if you’re planning to do transcoding.

Business school is often more expensive than other disciplines because of the high salaries needed to attract talent and businesses schools get a lot of sponsors, so the school is being compensated for the high salaries.

Exactly. Nobody should care how the professor generates materials for the class, they should only care that the materials are effective and accurate. That’s the professor’s job, and they should be free to use whatever tools they find helpful in producing effective, accurate materials.

Well yeah, “liberal” has come to mean “progressive” or at least the Democratic Party establishment, which has drifted pretty far from OG liberals. Classical liberals restricted themselves to negative rights (freedom from), whereas modern liberals believe in positive rights (freedom to).

I think the issue is that the Libertarian Party does a terrible job representing libertarianism. They focus too much on the “less taxes” angle when it should be focusing on less protectionism. Here are some changes I’d like to see related to corporations:

• eliminate corporate taxes - also tax stock options/grants above some level as income (at least while we have an income tax)
• eliminate corporate liability protections above a certain size (say, $100M?)
• eliminate any explicit or implied criminal protections for corporate officers
• eliminate any tax benefits for providing benefits, and combine corporate benefit programs (e.g. 401k) with non-corporate programs accessible to all (e.g. IRA); if they offer benefits, they must also offer the cash value if the employee declines

Yet the LP focuses on the first and ignores the rest.

Don’t willy nilly lump libertarians with corporate hacks. Yes, we align on a few issues, but the principles behind where we align are very different, and a libertarian would also push for a bunch of changes the corporate hacks don’t want.

Some options:

• charge channels for hosting costs - most channels make more from sponsorships, patreon, and merch than ads; could even be free for smaller channels
• charge customers for premium features - like Discord Nitro; they already have this in the form of super chats or whatever
